The Zoological Society of London (ZSL) is a charity devoted to the worldwide conservation of animals and their habitats through breeding endangered species at ZSL London Zoo and
ZSL Whipsnade Zoo, carrying out research in conservation biology and managing conservation programmes in over 40 countries worldwide, including the United Kingdom.
As an organisation, ZSL is working towards the international standard for environmental management across both its sites, and ZSL London Zoo has signed up to the Green Tourism for London Award Scheme to increase the positive impacts it can make on the local environment and community.
Over the last 5 years we have halved our water consumption at ZSL London Zoo, greatly reduced the waste we send to landfill, and have increased biodiversity on site through increasing soft landscaping in new exhibits, adding green
roofs and wildlife habitat areas.
